Space Bake is a game that came out of Otronicon 2019 Game Jam at the Orlando Science Center. I worked on a team of five people in a competition to create an educational game that could also be used as a science center exhibit. Throughout the 72 hour game jam, I was responsible for making the player controller, the particle galaxy, the compound structures, and the win condition of the game.

Responsibilities

Scripting

  • Set up Oculus Go headset to track head movement and controller movement

  • Created raycasts to detect which element the player was interacting with

  • Created buttons on the control panel to switch between the needed chemical structures

  • Created the chemical structures to detect which element the player was trying to use on it and provide feedback on appropriate placement

Art / Design

  • Created a particle system in engine to simulate a galaxy

  • Created a skybox to provide mood and atmosphere to the game and drive how the feeling of urgency in space
